Default Shorty headers?

Are shorties worth it? I upgraded to a Magnaflow X-pipe and don't want to toss it to get long tubes. Not to mention, long tubes cost a pretty penny. My question to you is, is it worth it?

I am concerned about losing too much backpressure and therefore losing torque.

The stock S197 exhaust manifolds are very, very efficient as well as the entire exhaust system. You will show very small HPgains with shorty headers and long tube headers also. The removal of the cat convertors and changing the mufflers will also not show any noticeable increases. All of these modsare not very cost efficientfor our cars, although they do make them sound alot better. The best performance mods for a stock Stang are a good cold air intake and a good computer tune, it is best to buy them as a package, you will save money that way. Next would probably be lower gears and then a one peice lightweight driveshaft. After that, nitrous or superchargers are the best bang for the buck.

I've heard this before from people, I thougth that LT headers and a H/X-pipe combo were good for like ~20hp?

Not to sound like a smart ***, but I got almost 80 RWHP on my 5.4 from my JLT cold air intake alone (with tune), you will be spending much $$ for a very-very little gain, if anything.

Shorty headers will show no performance gains.

LT headers on a N/A engine will show about 5-10 hp

But they sound mean as hell

shorties FTL...

LTs + retune may yield up to 20hp...not a great bang for the buck...

what's your complete mod list? I'm sure we can figure out a better way to go for the $$$...
