Tire sizes
Thats a cool site is showed me I'm losing 1" overall diameter when going to the 255/45/18's and 2" when going to the 275/40/18's, I dont want to lose too much since I like the way the stock tires currently fill the wheel well on my car.

dislexia is a B**ch LOL. I redid my comparison and now they are all 3 within about 1/2" of each other(the 275/40's are little more than 1/2"), thank you for pointing out the error of my ways [8D]
235/50/18=27.25" overal diameter
255/45/18=27.03" overal diameter
275/40/18=26.66" overall diameter
If I was to decide on an 18x9 I'd go with the 275's but I think I'll be sticking with the stock 18's and going with the 255's

Check out this site http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCalculator.asp. Plug in your current tire size and your desired tire size and it tells you if it will work and the rim width necessary
According to this site your best bet on 17 X 8.0's is a 255/50/17. This size tire will actually improve your gear ratio.According to this web site, it is also okayto275/50/17 on your current 8.0 rims, but the diameter of this tire is bigger so you will lose gear ratio. For those of you reading this post with 18 X 8.5, this siterecommends 9.0 inch wide rimesto run the 275/40/18. I would assume this is because the 275/50/17's have a taller profile to spread the extra width over. Personally, I set my highly modified suspension up for a street/road race application,so I run 255/45/18's. One can always through on a set of drag radials at the drag strip.
