Default How Tuning Works??

Hey all.. This is a rookie question...I understand the concept of tuning, but am fairly new to my mustang. Once your purchase your tuner, what is the process of actually 'tuning' it? And does your tuner come w/ custom, already installed tunes?

Any help would be great.

Thanks

You plug the tuner into your car, select the tune you want to flash the car with. The tuner will backup the stock tune, locking the tuner to only work with that vehicle. After that the tuner will flash the car with the tune you selected.

If you order a tuner from Brenspeed, |3amachips, etc; it will come with custom tunes.

when you purchase a tuner from one of the better know tuners (brenspeed, b@ma,vmp,evo) you can get your choice of tunes for the mods you have done, then you just plug it inand down load the tune to your car, takes all of about 3 minutes to do.

Do some research in the forum, you'll be an expert on the subject in no time...

Once you've decided which CAI (Cold Air Intake) you want AND which company you want your canned tune from, try to find a package deal. For me, I went with the C&L "Street" Intake + Evolution Performance Tuning. Ordered the package with 87/91/93 octane tunes. Everything you need is shipped to you. Install the intake (piece of cake for anyone). Plug the in the tuner (port is located under the dash on the driver side). Follow the prompts and the tuner does the rest.

Total time for CAI and tune installation is around 30-45 min.

To get a better idea of what the job entails, check the "How to guide" featuring Tacobill on the main pages of the forum.
