Putco track style billet pedal covers installed
Installed Putco track style pedal covers over the weekend. I was really disappointed that my 07 Mustang GT didn't come with a dead pedal, and the only other pedal cover kit out there that I saw with a matching dead pedal was one from Steeda. That one was a little to "shiny" for my taste, so I went with the Putco's. Paid $99.95 for the gas, brake, and clutch set, and an additional $64.95 for the dead pedal. Pricey, for sure, but this stuff is solid as a rock. High quality billet construction. Includes instructions with pics - pretty straight forward but a little euphamistic - this isn't exactly the easiest area to get at, especially the gas pedal.
A few tips:
1. The dead pedal screws right onto the rubber fake dead pedal under the carpet, just be careful not to drill into the wire loom that runs down the left side of dead pedal area under carpet.
2. The stock rubber brake and clutch covers peel right off, you then drill four holes through the metal pedals to bolt on the covers. The kit includes the proper size drill bit, but you'll need a stout drill to get it done - that cheap rechargable drill isn't going to get it done.
3. The gas pedal is actually just a rubbery material and quite easy to drill through, but it's at a funky angle to get in there. If you have a dwarf living in your neighborhood, this would be a good time to have him/her crawl in there to drill these holes!
4. Not included in the kit, but absolutely necessary (and not mentioned in the directions) is a 9 mm wrench to hold the nut in place while you tighten the supplied bolts with the suplied Allen wrench. Supplied rubber bolt covers hide the heads of bolts nicely.
All in all, very happy with the final outcome. Just save yourself a trip to Autozone and have a 9 mm wrench on hand before you start the project and you'll be golden.
P.S. - What's up with the way Ford cuts off the carpet about 6 inches too short up under the pedals?

RE: Putco track style billet pedal covers installed
Looks very nice!! I am so ready for someone to come out with a matching dead pedal for the GT500 pedal set.....still waiting......I like how this dead pedal lies flat against the floor......
Oh, and plus 1000 on the carpet cut. I just commented on this earlier today in another thread.....[:@][:@]Looks like ***..........
Great job,
