Default Gt 350 question

I noticed today that somebody was selling a 2006 mustang GT and on the side it had the GT 350 decal. It was red with black stripes, fully loaded, and had the shaker hood.

I'm not an expert by any means, and I'm hoping somebody out there can fill me in.

Was this a Ford option (a tribute GT 350 car?). I haven't talked with the owner, and haven't contacted ford with the VIN number yet (will do that tomorrow), but was just curious if there is such a thing. I did a google, and found some images of GT 350 tribute cars, and lots of comments on Ford putting them out in 2006, but I have not seen anything offical or not.I have not done extensive research on it, but was wondering if I should consider the buy or not....it has about 18k miles and is for around $21k.

Thanks for any direction, clarification, or information!

Jason

It is just a GT. It's a GT with a sticker along the bottom. I highly suggest removing said sticker if you end up buying this, but thats your call. No such thing as a GT 350. (Besides the original of course)

first things first...no such thing as a modern day gt350 from ford..so its about as real as my tribute car...without the s/c I am sure..2nd..if it is an 06gt premium for 21k w 18,000 miles good deal if it is sound mech and cosmetically..3rd..as far as ford coming out with a modern day gt350..that is speculation based on ford reserved the rights 2 the name for possible future vehicle development check it out..ask the owner what type of car it is..if he claims gt350..call the bs card on him and walk away

The gt 350 sticker is for posing purposes only. Similar to tuner/rice junk.

Thanks all for your information. Its a nice looking car...the strips have some defects, but can be redone..but other then that the car looks good...I will give it a test drive tomorrow. I will also follow up with ford on the VIN, just to see how they actually equipped it... I know the stripes were an option that Ford could do...but not sure if they were after market or not.

But other than that, the car is fully loaded, with exception of heated seats...it even had the shaker1000 system in it...

Thanks again!

Wouldn't GT350 have meaning if the guy had CAI, tune, underdrive, gears, full exhaust? That should puthim around 350 hp. According to your statement about GT 300 representing hp this makes sense to me. Although not the original, still makes sense.

RETARDED! But if your car is a GT that has 350hp, I don't see a big posing problem.

Kinda makes me wonder if Ford & Shelby would ever consider doing a GT350 for those of us with just a little less money than say, the $60k-$70k for a GT500...Or if that's what a Shelby GT is supposed to be nowadays...
