Default ? about securilock

Ok my car has the keyless entry system..the 4 button remote. It also has something called securilock. What is securilock? I thought my car had an alarm on it, but I just opened the door after arming it and it didn't beep or anything so I guess I don't. Ford really cheaped out by not putting an alarm in these cars. Does anyone know if I can add the factory alarm to my car and how much it costs? Thanks

Your GT has no alarm? Must not have been on the options list
you received. What does your window sticker say?
SecureLock is a chip in the key, PATS, that only
keys programmed into the system will work to start
the Stanger. You can make duplicates all day long
but is the SecureLock system does not recognise
the transponder in the key, nothing will start. You
can open doors and trunks all day long, but no starty
the carie without the proper programmed key. Dont
loose the keys or its a big ol Stealership charge for
reprogramming.

PS the Stealership will install an OEM alarm, I mean
reprogram your SJB and add some switches and horns
and such. Call them for the price. You will be suprised
how much it costs.

I think it was an option. Mine has active alarms with a motion sensor. Does yours?

It was an option called Active Anti-theft. There are sensors in the overhead lamp case that senses interior intrusion and will lock down the electronics if the car is tilted or towed. It will also sound an alarm.

Ya my car doesn't have that. I think I will just add a aftermarket alarm. Better price and better alarm than factory stuff.

Have it professionally installed by someone who FULLY
understands 05-08 Ford Mustang electrical systems.
They are a totally different pig than older cars.
SJBs are expensive to replace and easy to damage.

there are two types of mustang transponder keys, mine has the kind that you can reprogram on your own, and i have done so, its a prcess u do in the ignition but u must have 2 working keys to do it. the other transponder system requires a dealership tool

SJB = Smart Junction Box. Its located in the passenger foot panel.... pop that panel off and you'll see it.

The active anti theft is not the biggest deal in the world. Mine came with, and its just a pair of ultrasound sensors that go active when you lock the car.... if you leave the windows open (on the coupe) it will chirp if someone reaches in and its locked. It took me a month to figure out what the overhead sensors that looked like microphones were until I threw something in the backseat through an open window. Not sure how particularly useful that feature is, however.
