electrochromatic mirror wiring

electrochromatic mirror wiring
Ok, so im looking for a switched 12v source that comes on and off with the key. I want to hard-wire my radar detector and i was trying to avoid having to run new wires down the pilliar to the fuse box. I know that the car had an option for an electrochromatic mirror, and id assume that it comes on and off with the ignition, so i was hunting for the wires that would have fed it. THere is a fuse for the mirror in the fuse box, just no mirror. I tried testing the wires, but idont have the right test leads with me and i shorted something sticking my leads into the plug, and it blew the fuse for the climate control... not quite sure how they are related.
So... has anyone tried this before? I removed the cabin light, and i found that there are 2 extra wires in the plug. Does anyone know what they do? Are they for the mirror? I got kindof scared when the fuse blew, so i dont wanan go sticking the probes from my multimeter in that little plug again.
The plug has a red wire/blue stripe and a white wire/blue stripe that arent used.
Anyone ever try this before? Any suggestions?
Thanks

RE: Wiring above cabin lights
i checked the haynes wiring diagram and it doesn't
show any switched 12vdc wires in the overhead console.
maybe someone else with a shop manual, will have better
luck
it's a great idea for a nice clean look, i hope it works out

RE: Wiring above cabin lights
Thanks for all the info.I dont have the anti-theft system, so thatexplains the extra wires. I was experimenting a little more, and i found that the fuse for the electrochromatic mirror has 12v with the key on. Now i just need to find what wire the fuse feeds (if any) and where it goes. Anyone have any suggstions? Maybe theres another harness or something that would come with the optional mirror
Thanks
Thanks
