07 No power and backfiring
Ok, i just got my first mustang, 07 gt manual presently almost 7k miles.
About 3 months into owning it i started having this issue. When driving, (RANDOMLY) the car has no power accelerating almost as if every gear is acting like 5th gear. It happens with a cold or warm engine.... Recently (was cold) it was backfiring so bad that it almost sounded like pennies going thru the engine to exhaust. No check engine light or any other light showed on my dash.
The only mod i have done if you can call it is a K&N filter.. But problem occured before the filter was applied.
Ive taken it to 2 dealers and they say its not throwing any codes tough luck, change gas...
I have used BP which they recommend, as well as continuously use 93 oct.
The mechanic took it home, no problem of course.
I personally think its the fuel filter but when talking to the mechanics at ford, it sounds like unless the code shows they wont attempt to fix it...
Any suggestions?

Mustangs run on 87 octane not 93 octane. You are damaging it. You would only need higher octane if you had a tune that requires it.
Get rid of the 93, and put 87 in it-- like the manual says and it will be fine. It might take some time and a few fill ups before it gets back to normal.
They are right when they told you to "change the gas".

I started w/ 87.... thats what i tried to tell the dealer but they just kept saying i was using cheap gas... use 93 i just think they see a girl and say whatever they want
Running 93 oct won't hurt the car per say, your just wasting it...your car as not ability to benefit from it at the present time...I'm not going to get into timing, detonation, and octanes...to long.
Sounds like the mass air meter, but to be honest I am a 10yr foxbody guy who has an 06 GT for a daily...it might not even be called that now...hell all my knowledge really applies to the 5.0's
I had a very similar situation in my 93 Cobra...hesitation/backfiring loss of power...mass air meter...happened twice actually....damn Pro-m's.
I'll look at my car tommorrow and see if it is similar, if it is there is a sensor that reads the amount of air coming into the intake and sends a signal to the computer setting up air fuel ratio's etc.
They get dirty etc...fragile...you can clean them off and 9 times out of tend it was a fix.

haha...wow.....putting 93 octane in the car with not hurt the car at all....many of us run the 93 from the start. I never had a problem with or without the tune in this car or my last. The 93 tends to run better as the gas has better additives. It does sound like limp mode, but with no CEL i am not sure....and the gas isnt going to cause this unless its just a bad tank of gas, but i dount that since you state this has happened before
