Default slice and dice sirius antenna cable??

my car came with the factory sirius antenna.i just installed a kenwood 6019 with navigation and i belive it has xm built into it also. so now i have a sirius antenna that im not using and the kenwood gps antenna both on the back of the car.while hooking up the kenwwod i found where the factory sirius antenna plugs in.i have an adaptor that will plug in to the factory cable and i could strip the wires back and splice it into the the kenwood antenna wire.leaving me with just the factory antenna on the trunk.i dont really want to do any cutting unless someone has done it and knows it will not be a problem??

As long as you are putting an adapter on the cable and do everything right there won't be a problem.

the adaptor i have plug into the factory antenna right where the brain is at in the trunk,i would be cutting off the other end of the adpator and splicing that directly onto the gps antenna wire after cutting that one.so the factory antenna would not be getting cut at all ,just the one that came with the kenwood.

Just curious, what did you do with your Sirius unit that is installed in the trunk behind the panel on the passenger side?

Unless you really good at splicing 30 gauge coaxial cable then I would not recommend it. You could only splice in the sirius antenna with the xm antennabut not the gps, they work off different frequencies. I would just recommend puttingthe antennas inside the vehicle on the inside of the rear deck at the bottom of the windshield and you should have no problems with reception.

+1 to just running the antennas to the inside. The signal will go through glass,
