I was wondering if anyone has come up with a smooth way to indicate to anyone who might be putting gas in your car, that it requires 93 octane and using a lower octane could cause ka-boom noises (I'm referring to those of us with 93 octane tunes) Maybe something that you fit over the gas cap before you close the fuel door or something? I'm trying to think of something that won't look retarded. Any ideas? Pics if you got em. Thanks...

go get a packing label, and write 93 octane only in magic marker, and put it on the gas cap itself.

I image a simple label maker would do the trick. If just to assuage your paranoia .
I'm from NJoriginallyand I always used to pump my own gas, unless the guy was there and beat me to it. I used to run 89 in my truck because it has a lot of miles and on a couple occasions the guy would pump one tank full of regular even when I clearly stated "Fill both tanks with the middle grade" [&:]. The place I went to regularly didn't really care if I pumped it myself anyway, I was friendly withthe mechanics and they did all the work on my truck. Needless to say it was pretty much my 2nd home between all the gas I was buying (13 mpg FTL) and all the repairs they did for me (many).

I pump 93 all the time however use the 91 octane tunein the summer and 93 tune in the winter. For God Sake's don't use octane boosters. I had to clean my fuel system because of these. They will make your car idle rough and you will sooner or later get the p0506 check engine light.

So do you go to jail in Jersey and Oregon if you pump it yourself? Thats crazy.

You don't get the chance. You pull up to the pump, and this ex-track star type person comes running out there to pump it. Don't even get the engine shut down before he is knocking on your window.

How about this - buy one of these and put a label or sticker on it:
