Thinking about selling the car

Thinking about selling the car
First let me say that I absolutely love this car....
I recently switched jobs where I now have to drive rather than take public transportantion to work, so the mustang will no longer be s weekend car. I am concerned about the car once the winter months hit, I live in NYC so we are know to get some snow (sometimes a lot). How do you guys manage in the snow? Will the car make it?

Actually, my '06 GT is better in the snow than my Mazda truck was -- a little heavier and with the weight more evenly distributed, it went everywhere I needed to go last winter, although the accumulation of ice did knock off one of my mudflaps !

Here in NY, a set of snow tires and a couple of 50lb bags of mason's sand in the trunk and it's all good. If you ever do get stuck, you can also use the sand to spread under the tires.
I'd be happy to sell you my stock wheels and tires if you want to mount snows on them.

+1. Don't trty to save money by just doing the sand. You have to get the best snow tires they have. Does anyone know what width is recommended for a pure snow tire? I'm wondering how skinny you'd need to know.
Also, does it help to take off in 2nd gear, to reduce spinning?

RE: Thinking about selling the car
Unfortunately I had my stang once when a snow storm snuck in on us. Needless to say it handled way better than my FWD Mazda Protege5. (I call it a tuna fish can with Bologna on the wheels). The mustang is a heavy vehicle, andif driven correctly, will handle better than a lot of cars. How fardo you drive to work? Does your company have any inclement weather policies? Look into that. Most companies, as part of their BCP (Business ContinuityPlanning) allow for working from home during stormsand whatnot... If they don'tallow that and you're worried about winter, try a few things. Any coworkers nearby that you could carpool with, or take mass transit to meet them on inclement weather days? Do you have parking issues where you live? If parking is not an issue, drop like $2,000 to $3,000 on a beater/4x4 to handle the winter. I did that with my 98 exploder. 140K miles, but when it snows, I can get to work. There is no way I could part with my stang. I turned down buying a house because it would have meant selling the stang.

I live in Michigan and my Mustang is my daily driver even in the winter. I get tricky sometimes, and there are times when I'm on the highway doing 35mph in the right hand lane, buts its doable.
CharlieW, your car looks identical to mine.

I have this same issue. I live in NYC too, butI have no plans to sell mystang though This winter im worried about the snow. I bought my car last Feb, but had a co-worker drive everytime the weather was bad. Hes no longer with the company, so I will have to find my way to the office either with the stang, or by purchasing a beater. My issue is though, every time I consider buying something else, I find myself interested in 5.0's [:@] (its a sickness)
Im going to look for a jeep or something, $1000-1,300 price range.
