Guys, don't get down too much about this.
Remember, the Mustang always has been a mass produced car at an affordable price.
It's still the best bang for the money.
The S197 is the best one ever. You have 65/73, then nothing worth a crap (as far as style) from 73 to 05. although I dig the Terminators.
Of course, it's all debatable since it's only one man taste.

100% agree, the underhood paint on my black 07 has a a lot of shine to it. FAR superior to the BMW Roadster I traded in.

right, cause you know they'd charge more to clearcoat the engine compartment.

Just be lucky you didn't get the Mustang with the GOLD engine comp!
