Air Ride?
http://www.airride.com/wizard/result...;model=Mustang
i was watchin spike tv and saw them install it on classic muscle cars and some other cars and thats all i found on it........I was wondering if any mustang owners considered that? i believe you can even set it to three different ride heights which is pretty cool....but I was curious what others thought or if there was something similar....I could use a smoother ride since I ride on 20inch rims for half the year or more

RE: Air Ride?
There's a lot more too it than just replacing the struts and springs with air springs. I did my own air suspension on my 99 ford ranger. Besides the air struts for the front you need valves, compressor, tank, air line, air gauges, fittings. I don't like their rear setup for our cars. I assume they are supporting the entire rear of the car through the shock towers, that doesn't make much sense when they could leave the rear shocks and replace the springs with an air spring. Those rear shockwaves would surely make it much harder to run wider tires because if anything rubs the bag it goes boom!
If your car is lowered with 20's it might make a noticeable difference in ride quality and of course you could adjust the ride height with the flick of a switch, but if it's stock height it won't help your ride much if at all.
There also might be some cutting you have to do so the bag doesn't rub anything. I cut the **** out of my truck. I had to relocate the shocks to the outside of the frame rail as well because they went through the coil springs and no one was making an air spring that a shock could go through.

RE: Air Ride?
yea i found it very interesting, watching it on trucku and muscle car, so it would be awesome if it was available for our cars and if someone has done it so i could note their experiences with it
.....oh wow.....yea i saw on the show they did all that to an old muscle car but it looked nice and probably rode great.

RE: Air Ride?
Air Ride Technologies has kits specifically for our cars. Ive taken a look at the website and the shocks look like direct bolt ons. I would love to try somthing like this but unfortunatly its too expensive for me. $3000..from my estimates.
