Risks running the quarter mile?

Actually, you want to leave on the last yellow. In the time it takes your brain to process you hitting the gas, the light will be green.

Load the converter a little by putting the brake to the floor with the other slightly on the gas. You will feel the car load up the rear and when the green comes on, get off the brake, roll on the throttle and go straight. Make sure you clear the back timing lights before letting off. After that you can breathe again, you will giggle a little, get your time slipand repeat.
Go do it you will have a blast.

I've done maybe twenty-five 1/8-mile runs, and other than the pure addictive enjoyment of legal, safe, Wide Open Throttle, the only downside I have noted is that the back panel gets covered with sandy dust.. I know they sweep the track, but I think there is sand in the asphalt mix, and it comes out and gets sucked up and blasted around by the reverse aerofoil shape of cars as they go down the road at speed. No biggie; couple light passes with the California Duster and all is well.

To answer the question though the chances of something going "kaboom" are 1 to 1000000. About a month ago when I got into an accident my insurance company nicely provided me with some money for rent-a-car and from all they had I picked a tungsten v-6 stang with automatic tranny. I ABUSED that car as much as I could for 10 days. I drifted in it in the parking lot at work every day I'd get off, I did 8-9 burnouts in it. Result-- car was returned to Enterprise without any problems. Don't worry, I don't know about GT's (I don't abuse mine), but sixers can't definitely take a lot of crazy driving including 1/4 mile runs
Thanks, guys. I appreciate the information. I think if I do it, it'll be one of those things where I'll be happy to say that I've drag raced. So next chance I get, I think I'll give it a go.

i think thats what hes afraid of...hehehe
so odds are you'll just have a blast.
Victoria - go out and have a blast. Drive around the water box, and only do a quick spin to clean off the tire (open rear). The timers don't start 'til the car moves, so don't worry about reaction time. Clean out the car to remove weight, which can include the trunk floor, spare and jack. Have fun!
Absolutaly no, the whole shebang is wayyy too dangerous. We better throw this one back in the sweat shop/nunnery where she can be safe.

Whoa that changes everything, her tampon could fall out, or worse, she could have her ***** disturbed by vibration to a point where it would increase the risk of breast cancer.
Further more all of that bending over could get her raped by the local pervert... then her boyfriend would break up with her for being promiscuous.
