Default Risks running the quarter mile?

I'm wondering...

I've never taken my car to the track to actually run it, but I'm considering doing so. It's pretty much stock with an MRT AeroTurbine single axle back. It's an automatic. If I floor it when the light turns green on the quarter mile and just keep the peddle down all the way through what are thechances that my engine or tranny or something could go kaboom and that be the end of my car? I'd love to try it, I'm just afraid that something serious could go wrong.

Worn clutch, tranny breaking, engine blowing, tire wear, rear-end breaking, body damage, injury, decapitation, death, anemia, parkinsons and alzheimers comes to mind.

something serious could happen driving down the street we could all die a nuclear death tomorrow.......have some fun isnt that what mustangs are for?

BTW your car should be fine to run, its bascially stock so odds are you'll just have a blast.

You forget the requirement for a spare pair of clean underwear....

Do you ever street race a little of a stoplight?

If so that is way more dangerous than the track.

With a stock automatic there is really nothing for you to mess up.

Load the converter a little by putting the brake to the floor with the other slightly on the gas. You will feel the car load up the rear and when the green comes on, get off the brake, roll on the throttle and go straight. Make sure you clear the back timing lights before letting off. After that you can breathe again, you will giggle a little, get your time slipand repeat.

Go do it you will have a blast.

Didn't you notice that dude is a GIRL!?!

Victoria - go out and have a blast. Drive around the water box, and only do a quick spin to clean off the tire (open rear). The timers don't start 'til the car moves, so don't worry about reaction time. Clean out the car to remove weight, which can include the trunk floor, spare and jack. Have fun!

You will be fine. Being that you are stock you arent doing anymore damage then you would just flooring it on the street, or merging onto the highway. Have fun!

Like everyone else says, you'll be fine.

Just remember, if something goes badly or doesn't feel right, let off the gas, don't try and finish it.

Actually, you want to leave on the last yellow. In the time it takes your brain to process you hitting the gas, the light will be green.
