Default Tires

My wife is as gung-ho as I about getting and modifying the '05 Mustang GT (under another thread), and we both agree that the 17" wheels look too small for the car. She loves the Chrome Bullitt style wheels and thinks that 18-19" versions would do the trick. She wants to maintain as much of the retro style as possible.

The questions are these:

1) What tire size (18 or 19")?
2) Is there another tire that fits the old 60's style with chrome, but is not a Bullitt style?

Thanks in advance.

I seen the Saleen today it has 20's. But wouldn't that robbed you of some horsepower putting on bigger tires? Just a question I'm just thinking it would.

You won't really lose horsepower, the rims will weigh a little bit more but not really enough to make a difference. GWFoos, I think you should go with the 18 inch chrome bullits.

I saw a pic in an American Racing pamphlet of one with 19x8.5" w/245/40/ZR19 on front and 19x10 w/275/35/ZR19 on rear. Looked sharp.

Thanks for the feedback. As for the small vs. large debate, I will continue to keep an open mind as the bullitts I saw were the polished, not chrome, so there probably will be some visual difference in size based upon the finish. I will go to Discount Tire and review them more closely when it comes closer to my order time. I want to have everything in order prior to ordering.

I called them about some Chrome Bullits and they said they had non to fit the 05 GT even though their site said they did. If you want your stang to look original I wouldnt go for the Bullits. I'm guessing you will see more of those than any once people start slapping new feet on their 05s.

I might wait for the Mach 1s to come out for it first.
