The S95 had one in the glove box which was necessary becasue the FOB didn't work when the ignition was on. You had to turn the car off to use it. The S197s don't have the button in the glove box. The FOB works when the car is on. I like this better.

To think...Ford did that intentionally. Who'd a thunk it?
The 05-07' manual states that it wont work overa certain speed so you
cant pop it while doing 60 down the hi-way? Am I wrong?

I never understood the need for one.
When I'm in the car so is my fob.

Yeah, and why there is a (was) a lock on the decklid I have no idea.
Unfortunately from personal experience I can tell you why the lock is on the trunk lid.
If you are 2 hours from home and your spare keys, and happen to close the trunk lid just as you realize your keys are in the pocket of the jacket you carefully placed in the trunk[]- you need the outside lock so the locksmith can pick it and get into the trunk to retrieve your keys! With a convertible there is no way to get into the trunk from the inside of the car.
I agree with you on the vert. (not sure how difficult it would be to remove the rear seat). Coupe has access w/fold-down rear seat as I'm sure you know. Most middle to high end imports have eliminated the trunk lock as access from within the car is possible.
