Default help at the track

Today is my first day at the track. I ran a 14.51/4 at 98.6 miles per hour. Please help mewith what I did wrong.
Factors some of the factors were 2.4460 ft. Temperature outside was 70 degrees. Humidity was 60 percentdegree. Race took place in England
Engine temp was half way between cold andhot. I had about a half tank of gas. I had no track preparation.

I didnt really have time to cool down because the line went so fast.

2007 mustang gt is what I have. Only mods done is a cai. Tune from breenspeed.

Any hints or tips would be appreciated because Im very disappointed.

Do you guys think it is possible to break into thirteens?

you have mid 13s in that car easy! the key is your 2.44 60fts! your ET revolves around it! lower that and you will be extremely happy with your times! it seems like your spinning or possibly getting wheel hop, just lower your tire pressure do a quick little spin of the tires stage and take it a little easier off the line then hit it and rip throuigh the gears! you cant really expect much from your first trip to the track it takes practice...

First thing you can't expect much your first time to the track except for an addiction to start. If you plan on going to the track often pick up a set of wheels and drag radials. Best investment there is for a track goer. Then practice, practice, practice and watch the times drop.

you're letting the clutch out to fast. That trap speed is really low, but I have no idea how they calculate it in england so it could be inaccurate.

Was this a real track or a track someone setup somewhere? What were some other cars running?

Also depends if u have a stick or auto. I f u have a stick, leave at about 2000 rpm and don't just drop the cluch. Slip it until it catches. And also +1000 on getting the dr's.

I have a stick and I think I was dropping the clutch to fast and I was spinning on some of them. There was actually a 99- 03 (not sure of the year)mach1 running the same times as me.
There was a porsche nine elevan turbo with 533 break horse power running twelve fives I think.

I have the same set up,and run 12.80 with the 3:31 gears.I am changing to 3:73 next week and hope to improve.I have been racing for 35 years and am comfortable with our track.I run my street tires 295-30-20,no water box, slight spin to clean the tires.Slip clutch till hook up and shift at 6200.Keep going to the track and having fun.Win or lose it's better than being in the stands.

+1 to what everyone said about your launch. Drop your tire pressure to mid 20's in the rear, put the fronts up to like1 or 2 psi above what the tire lists as max pressure and slip the clutch, don;t drop it. Every .1 you take off of your 60' time, is .2 you take off your final ET. 1.9's should be your goal, which would put you right about 13.5 or so. The reason your trap speed is so low is because your spending so much time spinning in the early part of the race, and spinning is not accelerating.

Last thing I would suggest, is that you practice your launches at traffic lights. When the light turns green, slip the clutch as fast as you can, without causing the wheels to spin or the tires to squeel. Once you can get that down, it's just a matter of figuring out who much faster you can do it at the track, due to the added track prep.
