Default GT500 Flyby ???

So I'm minding my own business rolling down the road when I see a Red GT500 pull out a few cars behind. The traffic just worked out (with a little help from me slowing) that we both ended up at a Red light running onto a 90 degree turn onto the highway, nice !!
It's Hot and we both have our windows down so I tip my forelock in his direction and throw him a compliment about his ride. he's about 50-55 and real friendly, we spoke enough for me to learn he'd got a pulley/tune/flows on the motor and was up to 620hp and he learnt that I had a blower. Quite a long Red light you might say !
So, we bid each other a good weekend and he 'ups' his window, urhm, ok..... I admit, my heart rate was well up, I figured this was going to be a good test for the Whipple.

Light goes Green and we both make the turn, real calm and relaxed like, we get straight and head up the collector, I'm holding 2nd gear long as I can without looking like a newbie Ricer, but he didn't go, just sat on my rear quarter. So, ok, that's fine, I upshift and we get up to the 100kmh speed limit (he's even falling back a bit as we filter across the lanes). So, about a km later I've all but forgotten about it when he does the most humongous flyby ! I'm like, WTF ? He even gave me the 4-ways as well as I turned off at the next intersection LOL

So you see, it's not only Ricers with Fart cans who do them

The corollary to the ricer fly-by is the cowardly fly-by. It usually involves a person with a car that should be faster than yours, but they are afraid of being humiliated by a theoretically slower and/or cheaper vehicle.

Thus, I believe that this is what you encountered.

just because he didn't drag you from the line he's a ricer?
even if he was bone stock he would have taken you easily.
not everyone guns it off the line all the time.

It's only a flyby if there was an actual race involved. Sounds like he was just showing off.

the flyby and the subsequent hazard
lights, are not always meant as an insult.

they can also be used to tease someone, in a
friendly way jmo
