Default Quick tire questions

OK - I've got to make a decision really quick. I have ordered a new set of 18" rims from ctr wheels, and am looking at tires. Unfortunately, I've already stretched the budget and so I am looking for something that is decent quality but not too expensive. I was looking at Kuhmo Ecsta's in a size of 275/40 in the back and 255/45 in the front. As we looked at the options, the guy at discount tire recommended the General Acclaim UHP as a much better tire, however there is not a255/45, only a 245/45.

In terms of size, the the 275/40 is about 1.9% smaller in the rear, while the the 255's are just a hair bigger in the front. The 245/45 is about 1.8% smaller in the front, which seems like it would match up really well in terms of size with the rears. Of course, it isn't quite as wide as the 255, which is a minus.

So.....

1. Anybody have opinions regarding either the Kuhmo Ecsta's or the General Acclaim UHP's?

2. Any opinions on running the smaller 245/45 tire up front?

I will be lowering the car with vogtland springs. I have never taken the car to the track, and while I might someday, track performance is not a factor in my tire purchase. I live in utah where it is mostly hot and dry, however I will most likely be using these through the winter since last year we only had snow on the roads a couple of days and I can use a different vehicle in that situation.

I'm hoping to order these today, so opinions are very welcome!

I am running 295/45/18 and 255/45/18 Nitto 555's on chrome CT-R's (18x10 and 18x9). I think 270/40/18 would look good all around...front and rear. To tell you the truth, 255/45/18 looks really good on front and rear, and would be a vast improvement over your stock 215's...or 225's whatever the V6 runs. But if you're getting staggered rims, I'm not sure the 255 would run on the 10" rims.

Should I go 275/40 all around?

Anybody got pictures?

People have done it, and it looked good, butdifferent lowering options make things look different. Personally, I would do it. I probably wouldn't run anything wider than that up front, because you'd see too much tire from the front of your car.

What CT-R's did you get?

I got the black ones with the 10" rear and 9" front. I had pretty much decided to go with the 275/40 in the back and the 245/45 in the front with the General UHP, but the rear tire is on backorder until december, so I'm back to the drawing board.
