Default Car Problems Fixed...BUT...!!!

Hi Everyone!

I just received a call from the service department at Ford saying the work on my car is finished. They replaced my instrument cluster to fix my speedometer problem (stopped working). They replaced the Fuel Level Sender to fix the problem of my gas guage not working. And...they replaced the Shaker 500 deck. But he said that after they installed the new Shaker, it only accepts discs in Slot 1. So I have to bring it in AGAIN to be re-replaced!

BUT...to my surprise, he said that after the warranty deductable and plusthe original inspection to determine that my rotors need to be replaced and my door handles fixed (NOT covered by warranty so I told them not to do anything), my total is $175.22! I was not aware that I had to pay for work that is covered on my warranty. They also did not mention anything 2 weeks ago about being charged for them confirming that my rotors need replacing and my door handles need to be fixed. Is there something I'm missing or am I being screwed by the stealer-ship? Please help guys, I'm really frustrated

I had my ebrake cables replaced @ 18000 miles with no cost at all. Is you can under the factory warranty or extended warranty?

I think she has an aftermarket extended warranty, non Ford. It sounds like they are charging you for a brake inspection and your deductable which I am assuming is $100. What price do they have written on the paperwork you were given when dropping the car off?

This is what is sounds like to me also, the 100 is common with aftermarket warranty work.

I have an aftermarket warranty. They also didn't give me any paperwork stating the cost of a brake inspection. But I didn't ask them to inspect my brakes. I told them that there is a TSB on why the rear brakes on our car squeal/screech. I knew prior to that I would need new rotors. Can I fight that? It seems insane for them to charge me for telling me what I already knew and they didn't inform me before I took it in that I would be charged or that I had a deductable.

It's going to be hard with out having any paperwork. Where I work You recieve a copy of the handwriten work order with an estimate for the total cost. So if there is $0 in the estimate line we can't make someone pay. But it does work the other way when theres $300 writen there and the person who signed doesn't want to pay. Ask them to break down what you are being charged for also. Computers can also mess up.

It should state in the aftermarket warranty about the $100 charge, that will be hard to dispute, but if you needed brake work done and you already knew there was a problem then there should be no inspection charge and they should just fix the brakes. Now if it was just plain time to change the brakes because they are worn out, that would not be under warranty and i doubt any of the costs would be covered for that matter

Okay, I paid $120. There was a $100 deductable but that wasn't anywhere in my warranty paperwork. They didn't give me any paperwork prior to taking my car in to have it done today. But they were trying to charge me $55 for inspecting my door handles! I fought it because I told them what the problem was in the beginning (with the springs extended) and that I just wanted to know if the warranty covered it, which it didn't. In that case, I told them not to fix them. So they took that charge off. To make matters worse, I picked the car up when they were closing so when I got in the car to drive away...the new Shaker 500 they replaced doesn't work AT ALL. I'll have to take it back when another new one comes in. Anyways, I wante dto thank everyone for your help and input
