Sheesh. On my 2nd 289, I had a cam, full exhuast and headers, intake, carb, MSD setup, and the t5 behind it... still the only thing I could beat was rice. Against anything fast, my life sucked...

 

Nice kills . One of my runs i ran an 11.8 when a gt-500 ran a 12.3 next to me. I tried to go talk to the guy after but he left right after that run. I was kind of disappointed, he was talking smack all night about raping new z-06's

 

My fastest time in my 66 coupe was a 13.6 with the stock gearing and peg legging it.

I don't even know what I was running... probably about that I guess. The T5 made such a huge difference just getting some decent gears in there and getting rid of thecrapconverter c4. I was peg legged too, didn't get the 9" till the 408 blew the 8" all over the street by a stoplight when I was lining up to rapesome dooshe Prowler.

 

Nobody said that a 289 was fast [8D]. Even the Hi-Po in the 65/66Shelbys punched barely 300 ponies and not much torque. I don't remember the specs on the 67 GT350 with the Weber carbs. That was a cool set-up though.

 

Look at the trap speed he was running you down and would have cought you too.. just looks like you got a way better launch than he did.

 

are you sure it was a GT500 and not a Shelby GT? I don't see how a mildly modded GT would beat a 500 unless there was some operator error.
