I think what they did is, that if u valet the car you give them just the key and they cant open the trunk then
Only if you've removed your lock on the trunk. But then, maybe the valets will spend so much time looking for the trunk release they'll run out of time to snoop in your trunk

First the $hitty seat-belt holders (stupid little strap?) and then no inside trunk release button.

What brainiac at Ford made those decisions?

F'n unbelievable!
Whose bright idea at Ford was it to put a seat belt strap ONLY on the driver's side seat for the 07?!? That's something my gf, mom, and dad (who has a bad back) bitch about everytime they ride in the passenger seat, that they have to twist almost completely around while sitting to grab that seat belt...

Trunk release isn't exactly a problem, as I've always liked using a remote to pop the trunk when I get close to the car. And I don't have to have that fear of breaking the key off in the lock (not that it's ever happened, but there's a first time for everything, right?). Plus, if it's a worst case scenario (i.e. the lock is iced over, and the key fob battery is dead) I can always pull down the back seat and pull the emergency trunk release to gain access.

Although, my salesperson tried to tell me that the reason Ford did it this way is to prevent a valet from opening the trunk and stealing stuff out of it.

"Uhm, how's that supposed to work? I give him the key with the fob, and he presses the trunk release button."

"Well, you just keep the fob with you."

"And taking the fob with me is protective as opposed to the fact that I'm giving him the key that will unlock the trunk?"

Right, except a) the rear seats fold down, b) the Mustang doesn't include a valet key, and c) the key fob opens it anyway.

Anyone who has worked for Ford or a tier 1 Ford supplier knows it's all about saving money or weight. Add a passenger side THIS, and a remote trunk release THAT, and it adds up to millions over the course of the model lifespan.

You can already open the trunk two other ways. Not including the fold down seat method or pull handle inside the trunk. If you count those, there's 4 ways to open the trunk.

In retrospect it does seem unusual not to have a remote release, but the reality is the key fob remote serves as a suitable replacement.

You know, there was a time when they included external door locks on both sides of a car. With keyless entry, eliminating the door lock on the passenger side is a good way to save cash, for both the auto maker and customer.

My emphasis exactly. How many ways can you open a trunk. They only give you one way to open everything else.

Personally, if I were going to wire-in a trunk switch, I'd wire it to the side mirror toggle switch. Seriously, how often is that ever used? I set mine once, and never touched it again. It would be a convenient place for the trunk switch. Of course, my favorite idea is to run a length of rope from the inside trunk latch through the middle of the rear seats and tied off on the E-brake. Anytime you need the trunk open, just give the rope a good yank, and voila! American Muscle could sell custom colored rope with Mustang emblems. It could be a huge aftermarket part! Stores couldn't keep rope in stock! ...AND the best thing....If you give the rope a good pull while taking off quickly, you can also close the trunk from inside the cabin! How cool is that!!!
