Dealer Mark-Ups
The wouldn't. At least here. I did pay MSRP as when I was looking in January I had a hard time finding a GT. Now the dealership has several on their lot and I wouldn't be surprised if they are more amenable to coming off MSRP.
As for a premium, yeah it wouldn't fly around here as there are too many options.

Guess it depends on the dealer/location. Last time I was at mine this week checking on my Shaker order they had 5 or 6 GT's - black, windveil blue, redfire, white....all MSRP.

Yeah before I decided to buy one, I went into a dealership and asked to test drive their only GT. The manager said I could only test drive it if I was seriously commited to buying THAT car it. What kind of **** is that?! I guess it's not really a test drive if I have to commit to buying it! [sm=wtf.gif]
Casper was talking about GT owners being scumbags in another post; the real scumbags are the guys working for the dealerships!

Yep not the most knowledgable sales staff for sure - but that never bothers me as I know what I need to know before I enter the door. I would have pushed the Xplan option or tried to but unfortunately my new employer doesn't have it as my previous one did. I have purchased from the dealership before so that allways helps in the negotiations - I do believe they are looking at the people that test drive them closely but I can't say I blame them. Alot of people just want to drive the things and I for one was happy to find a GT with 4 miles on the odometer so no one had taken it to lite the fires and kick the tires yet.
North Central has been good for us in the service dept - this will be our 3rd Ford to be serviced there. The $9.95 oil changes for the life of the car will save alot of money over time too - not to mention keep the warranty guys happy.

I requested internet quotes from about 20 dealers in the MD and southern PA area on a V6. So far I have only received 5 serious offers. 1 at MSRP, 1 at $1000 over invoice, 2 at invoice and 1 at $200 below invoice. Going to talk to the latter dealer tomorrow.

It feels great not spending the entire day in the dealership playing games.
When I was trying to buy a Firebird 3 years ago I called and got quotes over the phone. Most were BS like "we cannot divulge our prices over the phone" and "come in lets talk". There were a few that dealt over the phone honestly and I went with the best price. With the internet being more prominent now it is even easier. The minute I sense the dealer wants to dance around on price I politely say no thanks and move on.
I found this site a useful source of information:
http://www.carbuyingtips.com/
It has some spreadsheets to calculate a car offer using a more realistic dealer cost, not just the basic invoice price. The invoice for example does not include the 3% holdback fee Ford gives it's dealers (a 3% MSRP rebate to dealer after the sale of the car)
The spreadsheet sheet allows you work in a fair profit of 5% for the dealer.
Quote my dealer: "Impressive spreadsheet"

Town & Country in Nashville wouldn't do x-plan, AND added $2000 "Market Adjustment" to the sticker.
I had excellent results with Town & Country in Louisville, KY.
They didn't have any GTs in stock but found the exact one i was looking for
at another dealer 40 miles away, and did X-plan.
05 GT, Legend Lime, Premium, Shaker 1000, Leather, machined wheels, kitchen sink, etc.....
The only problem so far is the known MP3 problem with the Shaker, (and the cars attributing to the delinquency of an adult).
