Default 2008 Hid light

How do these compare to the standard lights? I thinking about upgrading and need to know if its worth it.

They're a lot brighter. Can see further down the road.

I just bought a set on ebay for $120. Im just trying to figure out if I should replace the d3s bulb/ballast and install a d2s set.

Tje d3r's kinda suck. They aren't as bright or blue as D2 series bulbs as they are mercury free....

The D3R's just lack that mercury purplish blue that you see in other HID vehicles. They're kind of just watery greenish blue and don't really look like HID's on most cars.

Get a set of aftermarket HIDS. Most are around $100 to $250 for mcculloch(the best there is IMO). Any temp degree you want 6k white, 8k blue-white 10k blue 12k purple and so on. Install is easy. Mount the box and plug-n-play. 6k is the brightest light, but doesn't have much color to it. I went with 8k on my car, but I had 10k on my last one. Either way, they are most deffinetly worth the money. The light output is 2x+ that of the factory halogen bulbs, and when people notice it when your coming down the street. makes your car stand out just that much more.

I would NEVER suggest HID bulbs in a reflector designed for a halogen bulb. That leads to all sorts of glare and light distribution issues.

+1 on what Tube just said.. The whole housing should be replaced due to the fact that the lenses are different for HID vs Halogen...If anything you will get a lotta light in the immediate front of the car but wont be overly benaficial further in front of the car.. Either way they look sweet on the outside tho
