It's all about numbers right?
Unless you have to have a Saleen or Roush or whatever name on your car (), why would you take the most expensive way to get there??

Don't you wanna have a car that is unique? For exemple, my car is not the best looking Stang, but you won't see a duplicate of that one.

It is nice to have what u could call is your own stang. Me personally, I think the new Saleens are ugly, but the paintjobs save a lot of them.I like sleepers but I have a feeling my car is gonna end up being blacked out.

I agree, the Saleen is ugly. Never liked that back end and the front is boring with that hood.

Anyway, sleepers are cool too.
Whatever you do to your Stang, make sure it's you.
You'll wear that smile for as long as you have the car.

I don't care if you have all the money in the world, doesn'y mean you have to be stupid.
People making 7 figure didn't get there by paying too much for their stuff.

Anything over 40 Grands for a Stang is overpriced (except the GT500), because you can buy your GT and put a body kit with blower, then you're there.
Apparently you have you own interpretationof what you'd do if you were stinking rich. So every rich person should wear $20 Wrangler jeans instead of $300 designer ones?! Should buy a $800 range/oven instead of a $10K Viking range? So when a $80K Viper turns into a $180K Hennessey Viper, the person that buys it should have their head examined? Takes money to make money, I'm sure someone making 7 figures yearly wants nices things around them, as stated, if someone who's into Mustang wants something unique and special, a S-281E(soon to be a S-302E) fits that bill. Cars aren't investments, but if a $100K Saleen is worth $50-55K in 5 years vs a $30K GT with $20K in mods worth $18-20K in 5 years, who's the dummy, the rich person who can absorb the depreciation, or the schmo who dropped Jr's college fund to "supe his Stang up"?

What ever...

Those of us who mod our car, don't plan to sell it (unless forced). Why would we? We wouldn't have time to enjoy it anyway.

BTW, a friend of mine is trying to sell his 05 stage 1Roush for 30K (paid 41K). Not a scratch, ding and 5000K miles on it,the car is Pristine.
It's been 2 months... Nobody wants the damn thing, not a call, nothing. Here in FL, where the winter time is no big deal.

Oh yeah, it holds the value more than a stockGT allright!
Chew on that one for a while...

Don't forget the suspension at least 1K plus labor
6-speed tranny(assuming T-56) 4K conversion plus labor to install
Built alum 302 stroker 4k Plus laborto build and install
Saleen blower with extreme tuningupgrade 6K
4.10 with "maxgrip"LSD $800 with install
interior upgrades, unk price but prolly not cheap.
Im sure I'm forgetting a ton of other stuff that goes into this car.

Also this is a#ed car with a Saleen VIN(not ford) that will always hold a bit more value than a regular stang. You can save alot of money if you have the time and skill to build it yourself but still no warranty when something goes bust.
Good point. I forgot about the 6-speed, the Saleen Maxgrip rear differential, and the upgraded gears. That should add another $3k (with labor). Which gets my below estimate right up around $90k.

And I think $91k is the MSRP;someone (incorrectly) mentioned that paying $91k would be paying way over list.

Not everyone likes Saleens. Not everyone likes Shelbys. Not everyone likes Roushes. Some will only be happy with a car they've personally modded. That's why there are so many versions available through dealers, and more aftermarket parts for the S197 Mustang than probably any other new car on the road. Beinga Ford enthusiast (and a Mustang owner for 17 straight years), I'm just glad to see the Mustang is so popular again...

Btw, here's a possible break down of the price of the Saleen Extreme in the ad-- and I'm just spit ballin' here, so these numbers are only approximate (and include factory labor to install & shipping/freight):
$30k for a brand new Mustang GT
$10k for Saleen body kit (front end, hood, side skirts, rear end, duck tail, and big wing)
$3k for interior upgrades
$2k for upgraded brakes
$1k for HID lights
$1k for suspension upgrades
$2k for tire/wheel upgrades
$5k for carbon fiber front and rear air diffusers
(Saleen had to add these to the Extreme to create enough down-force to keep the car on the road at the 190+mph top speed of the car)
$15k for a blueprinted, forged, supercharged, tuned, fully warrantiedengine putting out 550+hp
(with upgrades to provide the engine's needed fuel, air,and coolingneeds)
$17k for custom Beryllium paint job (essentially a custom,multi-coat, candy orange paint job)
________
$86k

I'd take the Saleen over the M6 or any of the AMG 63 series cars, all of which cost well over $100k, and don't particularly turn heads on the street (at least not out here in L.A.)...

Just my $.02.
