Default Worth Replacing?

I have been on a purchase budget for about 5 months now and I already have my engine mods in order and money set aside, I now want to replace my stereo unit but dont want to go overboard! Looking to just get a head unit and good quality speakers. Can i get a head unit, speakers (no sub right now) and an amp that i can expand on in the future for around $800? I dont need a navigation unit, just something that fills the factory space that i can add a cd changer and plays cd's in the head unit! If you think i can do it please lead me in the right direction!

The quality and brand of the items you wish to upgrade to will dictate the overall price....the better brands will cost more....for starters, you could go to www.crutchfield.com and check their stuff out...they sell many brands of everything you need....they even have live online chat for you to ask any questions u might have and get a REAL answer and not just some POS reply email.....

and yes, if your not satisfied with your current system, its worth replacing to get a better experience when driving your stang!

I rememner you had problems with your Shaker, so I would def. upgrade if i were you. Were you looking for a double din (fits the whole space) or will you settle for a single din with mounting bracket that converts the space to storage? single dins are pretty affordable but if you have 800 I would just keep saving and get a multimedia double din unit

To answer from above, yes i am the one with the shaker 500 problems, which ford has yet to call me about the replacement head unit. As far as not being satisfied with the shaker, I enjoyed it at first and then listened to a friends new system that he put in his chrysler sebring(touring coupe). All i can say is it is apples and oranges. He did however put about 2000 into the system! I asked him what he thought and his reply was, either stay with what you have or save a little more money and go all out!

My philosophy is "don't settle" I like to get it done right the first time then get something I might want to change in about 6 months

Your friend gave you the correct advice. Either go big or leave it alone. If your going to go through all the hassle of tearing it all out do it right the first time and spend a little more to get the type of sound you heard in her/his car. And by big I do not mena earth shattering bass type big i mean using high quality top end components just like you would with Engine or suspension parts.

Ya i think everyone has problems or WILL have problems at some point....one day u will be riding then all of a sudden your cd will skip (players fault) then it will play like normal, but only until it gets too hot and spits your cd out saying its a "bad disc"...it gets old lol
