hood corrosion problem
anybody have a problem with the hood corroding.the hoodsaluminum and the corrosion is bubbling the paint. im going to show it to my dealer and see if theyll warranty it.i read thewarranty info and it reads like they fix it if its rotted through to make a hole.who wants to wait for that eye sore to develop. the cars only three years oldshouldnt have that issue yet.ifthey dont fix itits just one more reason to expidite getting my KR hood.
The dealer will take care of it for you. Some on here have had this issue. It was determined to be a contamination problem at the factory. No need to worry about rust on your aluminum hood though.
thanks. fyi aluminum will rot just like steel over time. see it all the time in NY.when it corrodes it makes a white residue, pitting and eventually on thin sheetmetal a hole will develop. we see major problems with aluminum wheels at the shop. theyll corrode so bad around the wheel weights, valve stemand bead area the tire will not hold air. well have to dismount the tire and wire brush the wheel bead area and coat it with a sealer to get the tire to hold pressure agian. so if anyones noticing this dont let it go it gets ugly

Yes, it will corrode over a very long time or if exposed to harsh environments. I have some old beer cans in a pile out in the back yard that have been there longer than Methusula though without any holes in them.
