Front Fenders replace?
I need help. I need some opinions. I got into an accident a week ago and the insurance decided to replace my front driver side fender even with just minor damage. I was hoping that they were just going to repair it, pull the dent out and smooth the surface. I do not want the body shop to saw the old one and weld a new one. But the body shop told me, the fenders are screwed and not welded. Is this true? and what route would you take, replace or repair? this is considering the resale value in the future of my shelby gt.
Thanks and best regards,
Lawrence

There are no cars sold in America that have front fenders welded. Except for a few very, vert expensive imports.
The front fender for your car retails for about $150. So put one on and it's done.

Just get a replacement fender. I too wrecked my car and need a new passenger side fender. I'm waiting till I have the money though. Ford dealer sells them unpainted for $150. Make sure insurance uses only oem Ford parts and not replacements from china. Or you can order one online from https://fordparts.com/oe_parts_catalog.html
for about $110 plus shipping.

No welding. Open your hood and youll see a row of bolts that hold them on. When I did the conversion I accessed alot more fastening bolts. It will give you a much cleaner look just to replace with an oem ford fender. Youll be ok.
Replace. A lot of parts are replacable on this car which helps keep insurance low for this body style. Atleast thats what my insurance agent said. And I pay less for this car then my 02.
Okay thanks guys. The welding idea came from when I use to own a Mazda MX-5. My rear panel was damaged and when I asked the body shop for the old panel back, it was sawed off the car when I got it so I assume the welded a new one on. Anyways, I'm going to get it replaced. Thanks again.
