Default Radio replacement

FUNKY BUTTLOVING, This is NOT (I repeat NOT) another shaker skip bull**** thread...

My Monte carlo, is 2001.. The radio can NOT easily be replaced without having to sacrafice a lot of cool gizmos in my car.
Ex.. Tire pressure mon, Oil life mon, ON STAR, various other things.... Ofcourse it can all be bypassed if I want to hide the real radio somewhere else in the car, but F that...
With the 05 mustang.. Preferably the 500w shaker, can it be removed and a new radio installed without losing a SINGLE thing in the car?
My monte's alarm wont work without the radio. Hell, my key fob wont work unless I use MY radio to program it...

Also, the radio in the mustang looks like its molded into the center dash console. Is there a replacement part so I can use a double din radio in there?
Any info is appreciated!

Default RE: Radio replacement

I was told by a dealer that the dealers cannot do an easy swap with the '05's like they use to. He said that the stereo was somehow tied to the computer. I told him that I knew some people on this forum had changed their stereos. He said he was told that he couldn't but didn't know what would happen. Since he's a relative and really into modifying my car, I know he's not BS'ing me, but he didn't have all the information. Can anyone elaborate on what problems replacing the stereo may cause? I figured it was that the speakers were set-up so that the head unit contained crossovers and that the speakers would sound like crap if all the frequencies were run through them, but that a good stereo installer could figure that out if they knew about it.

Well Crutchfield is giving me a message saying the factory subs will no longer work if the Shaker 500 receiver is replaced.

Yet another reason I refuse to buy the Shaker, even if I have to wait till October to order one.

It recommends this adapter, giving you a cubby:
