I hate Winter.
Looking forward to my first winter. I'm more worried about black ice than salt to be honest. I get a garage spot at my house anyway, so at least I won't be scraping ice off of it all winter long. Worse comes to worse, I'll find a way to wet her down and get salt that has built up off.
I bought my car on Dec 23, 2006. The dealer was running a 1 day sale. They were giving $2500 off any Mustang. It's hard for them to sell Mustangs in that time of season and they had 17 on their lot just sitting. I also get the A-plan because my Dad retired from Ford and my Brother still works there. I couldn't pass the deal up. I only financed $16,900 with $500 down. Since then, I have bought a car cover and found a friend with some storage space for me to use over the winter months. I have a 1997 Cavalier Z24 to get me around daily. I look forward to putting her away for a few months and breaking her out in spring. It'll be like getting a new car all over again.
Living in upstate NY sucks with the snow. I have a 97 Civic for a winter car. I am sure it will happen within a week or two so I am going to go and put some miles on the car today while I can. It may be the last nice Sunday of the year for driving the Mustang around.
New Jersey winters are always a question. You really never know what you are going to get. Sometimes we get eavy snow and sometimes not. This is one of the main reasons I kept my Explorer. The pony will stay home under its blankie and wait it out. If we have a couple nice days , I will still take it out, but will be trying to avoid the salt. At least I can always get a fix and drive it up and down my street because they have never hit it with salt all the time I have lived here.
It only snowed one time where I live last year and I was out of town for a week on business when it happened. I missed the whole thing from snowfall to last flake melted. And salt? They never heard of that here...when there's anything on the road they just throw sand on top of it and call it good. Mypony is my DD and there's very few days out of a year I don't drive it due to ice/snow. And on those rare daysat least she's got a spot in the garage to keep the elements off her.
