Default Fuel Filter Line Release Question

I just want to make sure before I break a locking clip. How do you unlock the connecting line that attaches to the fuel filter. I'm guessing I need to pry the green clip up but wanted to make sure before I snap something off and create a new problem. Thanks

That was easy enough. The hardest part was the removing the black cover.

I had 23K on that fuel filter and I" got say that the fuel look very clean when I poured it out if the inlet side. I wouldn't say this was a waste of time because of the dirty fuel I've seen in other posts. For my piece of mind it was worth the effort. I'm glad I didn't see brown dirty fuel.[sm=happy046.gif]

mlcrycc Thanks for the info

With the PLASTIC fuel tank that the stangs now have,
brown rusty fuel is a thing of the past. Put in clean fuel
and there is little dirtto filter out. No dirt/comtaminates
are generated from the fuel tank like in the old days of
metal gas tanks and water laden fuel.

I just updated the other thread. The timeline for changing the filter were incorrect for most people (15k miles). This is straight from the service manual.

During extensive idling and/or low speed driving
for long distances, as in heavy commercial use
such as delivery, taxi, patrol car or livery:

• Install a new fuel filter every 24,000 km (15,000
miles).

Normal Schedule:
48,000 Km (30,000 Miles)
• Install a new fuel filter.

Try blowing through the new one, then TRY blowing through the old one. You WILL notice a difference. Thats why fuel filters need to be changed. They clog up. GM fuel pumps are the most common ones my shop replaces. Changing the filter puts less strain on the pump to maintain pressure, and increases the odds of not having to replace it.
