I think he realizes how dumb a comment that was, like I said, I hope he was joking.

Never say an accident wasn't your fault. All accidents are the fault of all parties. Even if someone rear ended you or ran a redlight the fact is you should've been 110% aware of everything at every moment and ready to evade or do what was needed to avoid the collision. Not being prepared for a hit is as much fault as making the hit.

Theres a reason someone never get in an accident their entire lives and some get in several by age 21 or 22..... Legally fault or no fault
Totally not true....i will provide 1 easy example but there are tons of situations where no matter what you will not avoid the accident:

You are sitting at a light, someone is turning left from the crossroad from you rightside....they cut their turn short and clip you car while you are sitting there....you are not at fault there is nothing you could have done.......you cant go in reverse if someone is behind you and that is the only way to avoid it.

Actually, using your example.... What you should've done is not pull up so far to the crosswalk and instead assumed anyone turning left may cut the turn short.

Its called constant calculative awareness and itsthe reason some people will never ever be in a car accident.

anyways howarmat you know youre my bro but this is my opinion on this topic. People need to calculate these things while going into a situation, instead of just trying to react if it happens.

Dude, puttin' a name to something doesn't make it true. Also my mother doesn't use your theory and in fact I am shocked she has never had an accident before. That proves that at some point it comes down to luck. So my question is, if you are in between two vehicles (front and back) and you have vehicles on either side (left and right) and the vehicle behind you gets rearended and subsequently rolls into you, is that your fault? According to your theory it is. You can't control another vehicles following distance no matter what you think. I know quite a bit about constant calculative awareness because I spent 6 years driving for the government. That theory in fact is geared towards your driving while in moving traffic more than anything. That theory falls off the map though when a vehicle is sitting at a light, or surrounded by other vehicles at a light. Another part of it is paying as much attention to the car 5 cars ahead of you, as the one directly in front of you. So when a vehicle is at rest, at a legal stop sign, or light and is rearended, the driver of the stricken vehicle cannot be at fault. Same as if sideswiped or backed into. Now you should always have enough distance between you and the car in front of you, that's a no-brainer.

Ok, heres what happened in my accident. I was on an expressway on the left lane of three, and I was slowly passing a semi. If I would have driven normally this wouldnt have happened. It was 9 pm and raining heavily. As I was about to pass him he just turned into me., nudging me on the rear left behind the tire, i think. How would you escape that? Just hit the gas? And if it was also my fault, he wouldnt have just fled the scene. I spinned out of control and luckily hit no one and came to a stop on the shoulder. I do agree that you must always be prepared, which is why I now never drive side by side with a semi. I will either stay behind, or speed ahead. You can never constantly expect someone to just turn into you and be ready for it. Anyway, I am going to wait till march or april and get an 08. They wanted to sell me an 07, for $27,000. they also only offered 12,000 for my v6, because of my hood scoop and the single takeoff muffler.I suppose the only good news I got today was my insurance would only go up per month by 25 dollars.

You wouldn't be at fault. Most accidents are avoidable but some just aren't. At some point everyone is a sitting duck. You learned your lesson and will never drive along side a semi, but there is a differencebetween defensivedriving that you take to lose a ticket, and the kind that keeps you alive.

Just buy a Used one for cheaper. You owe 19k but hope the dealer will give you that much for a car that was crashed twice.
I agree - new is great but if you can get a great deal on a used, low miles would be better. You have to realize - as soon as you drive a brand spankin new car, any car, off the lot it depreciates by thousands....

The other thing to consider is if your gf lives with you and is a "legal driver in the home" I think she has to be insured on the vehicle also. May depend on what state you're in....

getting back to the original question...
I see some BIG financial problems down the road for you and I don't even need to get out my crystal ball.
You're paying way too much already per month on your current car, you won't get nearly as much as you think it's worth when you trade it in or sell it, your insurance will go UP with an accident and a brand new GT. Plus you said you bought a condo with your GIRLFRIEND??? Did someone actually advise you to do that? That's a HUGE risk! What's going to happen to the equity if you break up? You won't get what you think you will there either.

I don't want to rain on your dream but you are young, so my advice is that you pay off the V-6 as soon as possible. Double your payments if you have the cash. Once that's done you should look into a new GT under the X-plan an order it the way you like.
Good luck!
I hope you won't need it!

if we break up? no offence, but thats non of your concern. i dont mean to be harsh. But financially, it was a good idea. Is it smarter to throw money away on rent, or on a mortgage? Our rent was higher than what our mortgage is now. but i do plan on ordering my 08 in spring just the way i like it. it all depends on how things go for me on monday. you guys are all right though. i should just pay off both cars already. I think ill jusy pay off the car and sell it on my own. the dealership only offered me $12,000. I live near chicago, so its kinda a bad idea to get a new car for the winter am i right? thanks everyone for your input.
