There's a rumor going around that the v6 only gets 1 or 2mpg better than the GT.. is this true? When did this come about? I thought the v6 was marginally better on gas than the GT.

I have an 06 pony package in torch red with 30k miles and if it's true.. I'm considering selling it and getting a GT. I can sell my car for $14,500 easy and buy a GT for 17k. The way I figure, I'll make up the difference when it comes time to resell it.
I got the same car, year and color, and alos plan on getting a GT. Dealer only offered me $12,000. I plan on getting a 08 GT next year.

I average 21-22 during city rush hour commute. I averaged 29-30 on a long 6 hour highway drive averaging a speed of 70-75.

Maybe I'm looking for a fight tonight, but I can't see where GTs are getting such good gas mileage. I know my sixer isn't getting 30 mpg on the highway at any speed. These aren't corollas or scions, heck, they're double the size, yet for some reason they get the same gas mileage? Hard for me to find the validity in that, sorry

Each 1 mpg is worth $100 per year, you'd do better just to drive your GT smoother. $14,500 is very low for a PP v6.

I get 29 to 30 mpg on the interstate, cruise set between 70-75. Its a manual, it never up or downshifts on its own, and I haven't had to shift out of 5th for any reason on the interstate. That is with a C&L CAI, 87 performance tune, FFRP axle back. Of course around town it's a lot less than that. But I was curious on a recent 6 hour trip, so I kept a detailed log to find out, and was very impressed. I'm sure it will get even better if you were to drive 60, or...gulp......55!

I don't understand what you're trying to say here. I own the PP and I'm trying to sell it for $14,500 so I can buy a GT with 20k miles for $17,000. And $14,500 isn't a low price for a PP... only to a mustang enthusiast. Most people don't know the difference and with mustangs selling for 11k it might be a tough sale.

Ask and ye shall receive. More power means less work to get the same weight from point A to point B. With my power to weight ratio, and engine only turning 2000 rpms at 70 mph, you do the math. Sometimes, more is more.
