Default Hydrocarbon Trap

Does anyone know of an "easy" way to remove the hydrocarbon trap on the 05's?

There is a rubber lip that is the tough part. I recommend a pair of needle nose pliers. Simply grab the HC lip, pull hard until is moves a few millimeters and then repeat on the opposite side. Repeat until it starts to work out. Once you get it out some it simply slides right out.

Since you all, are taking these things out. Do you need to do the computer flash, after removal??

I know some are not while others recommend it. It seems that you can get a 1-2 RWHP w/o a tune. I had it included in the tune I did for the CAI/gears. IMO, I would not recommend removing it for such a small benifit unless you did it as part of a larger mod (i.e. custom tune, octane, CAI, etc.).

I personally think its a waste of time. When the magaznes tells you you can get 5 RWHP. lol. thats after they tune it. Its a device to get the Mustang into the clean air title. lol. And to make tree huggers happy. Just remember the MAF decides how much air goes past it
