Default Problem with gas tank

Once in awhile when I fill up in my gas tank and its just about empty it only fills up half way! I fill it up and then the pump clicks and wont put anymore in! Has this happened to anyone else? It does this once in awhile its weird. Oh and this happened before I put any of my mods in so that can't be the problem.

This is a TSB that ford knows about -- they'll fix it under warrenty. Until then ... if you turn the pump upsidedown then it'll work just fine

I don't even know what a TSP is.Try turning the pump handle to about the 2 o'clock position on the slowest setting. The pump gets kind of heavy.

LMAO

I didn't even catch Caution's "turn the pump upside down" until I read your comment!

Use the slow speed to fill it up.

well the thing is I live in NJ so we are the only state where they fill it up for us. So when I tell them to move the pump around or upside down they say no it will break it or they tell me its full. How they going to tell me when MY CAR is full? I think i know it better then them. Oh well lets just hope this doesnt become a habit again. Also isn't my warranty voided when I put all these mods on my car?

Technical Support Bulletin (TSB)...should not be linked to warranty period. So, you should be able to take car in to have it checked. On the other hand, tilting the nozzle in a 45 degree angle worked for me when I had the same issue. I never took the stang in, but I dont seem to have the problem any more.

My girlfriend just had the same thing happen to her in her V6. I actually was filling up and was wondering why the hell it shut off so early. Long story short, a week or two later the CEL came on. Fuel pump and it was fixed.

If that ever happened to me, I would have to assume it was pump nozzle error, not Stang error. How did you guys decide your car was at fault?
