We have 10 inches of heavy wet snow in our sub-division this AM and with the GT's 5 inch draft, it ain't going anywhere. It is still coming down at a rate of 2 inches per hour. I couldn't get it out of our drive. So, there are limitations to when and where the Stang can or should go in the winter. Common sense plays and important role now, and 40 years ago. You have to know when to say when.
I have an 06'Freestyle LTD AWD. We came home from Dillon last night in a snow storm. It took a couple of hours on I-70 east bound. Its been an awesome winter vehicle, even last winters blizzard.

Just took a stroll down my driveway, Sterling Heights Michigan, metro Detroit, and slid all the way to the street. Covered in ice but the Stang is cozy in the garage. I'll wait until the streets are dry again before driving it again.

I have been trying to figure out where to get the extra money to go buy a winter/ daily driver so I can park my Stang. Was in the rain the other day and got a little loose. Next thing I know I am watching her go up the ramp of a tow truck........

Well, it's 4* here this AM. After the big storm, we totaled 31" of heavy, wet slop. They say we have round 2 coming tomorrow and will get another 10-20". My back hurts from shoveling the driveway. The snow plow man finaly came by and I could get the GT out if I wanted too, but we took the Jeep yesterday and did all our running so no need to get it dirty. The Jeep was frozen down to the ground this morning when my wife took it to work. Sounded weird when it broke loose. What ever happened to our Banana Belt?

I must have missed it, or am really tired, but what are you taking all back? [&:]

Well, having learned how to drive in the rear wheel drive era, I am a big proponent in the ability of the 197 to be a capabile winter driver and it is so long as you use common sense and have the proper winter tires along with weight in the back. What I take back is the assumption that this thing is a tank and can vurtually fly over the moon if one so wishes. It has it's limitations and I would guess, that those limitations are in the form of 7-8 inches of the unplowed white stuff. Has to be wet snow though. Powder like we usually get out here,,,,,,, you can drive right through like it was a pile of feathers.
