Has anyone tried painting or polishing C&L inlet pipe
I've decided on the C&L 'street' CAI and I'll order it shortly but I haven't seenit up close yet. In the pictures, it looks like it has a dull silvery finish. Has anyone painted theirs or try polishing it a bit to make it look better?Or is it something only a ricer would do? Yeah, Iused to beone. [sm=bling.gif]

I didn't polish mine, but a guy in my local mustang club polished his with a rotary tool and mother's polish. it came out really nice, I just didn't have the patience. I wanted to install it right away!!

^^ I think that's what I'm going to try first, a little bit of DIY and if that doesn't work, then I'll take it to a shop. I have the whole winter to spend on it so there's no rush.

I bought one used and it had a couple of blemishes on the finish. So, A few coats of sandable primer and a couple coats of gloss black, it looked very good. I put 3 coats of sandable primer on, then sanded, and then began alternating between a coat of primer and sanding until I had the intake smooth. Then I put 3 coats of red enamel on it. Ended up not liking the red so I did 3 coats of black and it looked awesome. I wish I had pics of it in black but I deleted them from my Photobucket thinking I had them on my PC, but turns out Photobucket is the only place I put them. I sold it to someone on here, so maybe they will put some pics up for ya.

Hmm...Maybe I'll polish mine when I get it. I've got access to a full set of buffing wheels and a long arbor buffing motor, along with the compounds (my dad bought it when he started pulling apart the '67 Jaguar, so that we could polish up the carburetors, the intake, valve covers, etc). The only thing with polishing is that it takes a while to get a good polish job on it, and if there's any fingerprints on it after it's polished, it shows up like a giant grease spot.
At worst, I could polish it and decide I don't like it, then powdercoat it...
