Judging by how fast we sell out of our 2005-2008 Ford Mustang Authentic Chromed Hood Pin Appearance Kit I would say they're pretty popular. We can't keep them on the shelf!
The real hood pins are for safety, if you have an aftermarket hood you should have the hood pins. I have a couple friends that had their hoods flip up at speeds way lower than 100mph. Both had 4" cowl hoods and it did a ton of damage to both cars. If I get a fiberglass hood I will have hood pins. Do I like the way they look? Not really but they are a great safety feature.
