What oil are you using?

RE: What oil are you using?
You'll be ok. I'd never go over a 30w in these cars though. I've heard too many things about tighter tolerances and such even on the oil forums (where oil geeks hang out all day discussing oil blends and uoi's ). 0w20/5w20/0w30/5w30. I'd stick with those.

I think I'll be trying Redline, Royal, and AMS out. All 5-30 to 5-50(since the GT500 uses it)
It would be interesting to dyno every fluid and see if there is a difference in HP and TQ gain. i'd do it for ****s and giggles

As far as trying 5W50(cause the GT uses it)?
It's surely due soley in part to it being a 5.4 liter(different motor), and the fact it's forced induction. I personally wouldn't. But that's me.

You guys are right. Personally (and you can do anything you feel like with your own car), I wouldn't go with a higher grade oil than 30 weight (0w30, 5w30). If the Saleen s/c mustang only requires a 30 weight, with the heat and pressure it produces, then it's good enough for my ride too.
The more important thing than oil type is brand, with the different additive packages. Amsoil (and probably most other oil companies) purchase their PAO base stock from Exxon/Mobil. It's the additive package that makes the oil unique.
And as far as oil filters go, this is the "cats meow" of filters. Just bought 3 of them I was so impressed with their filtering ability (comparable to by-pass filter). I also use their synthetic (microglass) air filter on my C&L intake.
