stoenr- how much rasp did you have before you switched back to stock. i had the "X" taken out and its much much better but there is still i cackle that seems like its not right. im begining to wonder if one of my flows is messed up. almost sounds like most of it is comin from the passanger side exhaust.

on my old 1989 5.0 i have a catless magnaflow x pipe with flowmaster and it actually doesnt sound that bad mayb cause its a bigger engine or mayb because i also got new headers...but the reason its raspy is from the x pipe h pipes sound way better but the x pipe gives u better performance so it really depends on what u want

I'm aware that an "X" chops out a lot of the rumble and tends to 'snarl' a bit in the midrange especially under load, while an "H" tends to sound more like straight duals only a little quieter(and Ihave a fair idea why).

Could somebody help me out with understanding what sort of sound is considered "raspy"?

Thanks.

Edit, and FWIW, mythumbnail car has what's essentially an "X" arrangement, but it isn't at all objectionable. Sounds like it's running at higher revs than it is, if anything.

I wish I knew more about pipe combos but they make my head hurt just thinking about it. if they weren't so expensive I'd experiment some.

The other thing is Cats. Here,Feds are on a mission to destroy fast cars, they check all emmissions equipment on vehicles during organised stops, if you've removed them, they remove your car, period ! Seig Heil !!

Just getting back to you. The offroad H plus Flows sounds great in my opinion. I think it sounds close to that of the 5.0's, maybe not exact, but pretty good.
