Shaker 1000 problem
So I'm washing my car a few days ago and I keep hearing strange sounds from the back. I pop the trunk and it's the S1000 subs making popping noises...but the engine is off!
I turned the key on, then off, then back on, shut off the stereo, then turned it back on, etc. but the popping sounds didn't stop. I had my cell phone charger plugged into the console charger so I tried unplugging it, which seemed to stop the popping sounds.
However, later I started her up again without the phone charger and heard a distinct pop from the sub, which continued every 15 - 20 seconds as I was driving. After about 15 minutes it stops.
Then on the way to work the next day I'm listening to the radio and the volume drops to almost nothing. I tried switching stations but nothing changed. Then, the sound comes back up for a while, then drops again, etc.
Today I googled a post on another forum where someone was having the exact same issue but I've never seen the issue posted here (the best forum, IMO) so I thought I'd check with the MF gang. This is not the CD skipping issue, BTW. On the other forum they said turning off the S1000 fixed the issue which seemd to work for me too.
Has anyone experienced this problem and if so, what was the resolution? I'm guessing a short in the trunk subs?
She's still on warranty so I will be scheduling an appt. ASAP.

I'm not sure, but here are some stupid solutions for you.
For the popping, it could be interference from your cell phone.
For the volume dropping and turning back up again, you could have speed volume on.
If it's not caused by those stupid reasons, then there is probably a short. Warranty FTW!

Yeah, I tried checking the easy stuff, e.g. speed volume is still off and I unplugged all the other external electronics but the gremlin is still there.
I just hate taking her to the dealership because it always means an overnight stay at least [:@] but I guess that's what gotta happen.
