It's been done countless times and no one ever produced a picture of bent axles, not to mention that you would have to also bend the housing before you get to the axles.
That's a lot of heavy metal bending vs the weight of only the back end of a car, lol.
Lastly, go to Webster and check the definition of "Insult", then re-read my post.

@whosniffedme: It is safe for the axle, just make sure the car is on a level ground and you chuck the front tire.
Put the jack right before the cover plate, common sense will prevail here.
The reason why the manual (any manual) says it's a no-no is because of lawyers...
Car manufacturers are just covering their asses against people that would find a way to injure themselves.
