I just put the Silverstars on my ride this past weekend when I was installing the JLT CAI. I can say it is a "whiter white" and it does seem to be clearer. But I wouldn't say it has the same WOW ZOMG factor of the first time you tune your car.

Perceptually they are better. But it all depends on the eyes. I still think it is worth it but if you compared them side by side it isnt so much of a jump in performance as it is a change in aesthetics.

As always YMMV.

Also. Installing the 9145s for the GT Fogs was a BITCH. that grill doesn't want to come out so I removed the 10MM bolts where the front pillars between the grill and the headlamps connects. I just bent the grill and all foward enough to get my hand in to remove the bulbs.

If you know someone with small hands and arms. Use them for this replacement.

So they're trying to say that the Silverstars didn't increase light range? I think they do, I've had them in a few cars as well .. like a previous poster said, it's not much of a difference but there is a difference. I won't hesitate to buy them for the S197 when the time comes either.

That's a relatively old review (I get that magazine but apply some of my own judgement as well).

The 'plain' Silverstars weren't particularly brighter than the OE headlights on one of my cars, although the light was whiter. Product life was marginal. The Silverstar Ultras that are now in that car are both stronger and whiter (and still 100% legal). Strength-wise, the Ultras appear to be about even with Sylvania's 'XtraVision' line (which are officially "off-road only" bulbs, though I suspect that the XV's willusually pass muster in pure street use).
