Default Anybody else have hood shake at high speed?

I notice the hood flex and shake at about 90-120 mph. It starts at 80 mph if there's a strong side wind.

The hood feels fairly tight when sitting still. I was thinking hood pins might be a fix.

Any other ideas for a fix? Oh... slowing down is not an optional fix!

Thanks guys.

Yes! Mine does that too. I figured it was jsut mine so I was like oh well, as long as it doesn't fly up while I'm driving.

You can try one of two things.
#1, add hood struts and throw away that stuipd support rod.

I have these and they are SWEET. I read someone else has these only and the hood flex stopped!
#2, add hood pins! I have these as well. Not that hard of an install, but you have to be brave enough to drill your hood![sm=icon_rock.gif]

I've been to 110MPH and no hood shake or flex at all!

Hey,
Thanks for the posts. I don't think it's neat... At 120+ mph I want ALL of my attention on the road... not hoping the hood doesn't pop open. LOL

Although... The car feels like it's doing 1/2 the speed because it's so friggin smooth!

Thanks again guys!

SatinSilver,

I just ordered the lift kit off ebay... I was hoping to find a similar kit.

Can you make a suggestion of where to find the hood pins?

My hood does the same thing. Look what happen to the factory Mustang in the Grand am race at Daytona, they tossed the hood 50 feet in the air on the oval. The only thing that will stop it is to vent the hood. I had the same thing happen on my road race mustang, I put a new hood with big vents like to saleen SR.

For the hood struts, you'll need a rivet gun to install (Home depot), but it's real easy to do. You will have to drill for the rivets but the instruction are well written and almost fool proof. Hood pins, sure! Go to http://summitracing.com They have plenty to choose from. Some have hairpins that stand-up like mine, some lay down and others offer torsion pins, all with or without laynards (which I don't care for)! I have the Summit Racing one's! 1/2" fat pins! LOVE'M
