1fast05GT could you answer my question if you don't want to talk bad of the exhaust on the internet email me at jcoltrane60@msn.com. I thinking now of maybe going with a louder exhaust. The guy at the ford place told me that exhaust isn't loud.

Would the piping be to low to run under the rear axle instead of over like the factory has it?

Could you help me to understand the use of the X or H pipe thing? (I think thats what its called?)
the cross over pipe equallizes the pressure in the left are right exhausts. helps more with smoothness than hp
the x pipes smooth out the flow as compared to an h pipe (stock) = more hp my guess would be that there is not more than 10hp to be gained over the stock exhaust untill you start to get crazy else where in the engine.

would be to low, you dont what the lowest point on the bottom of the car to be the exhaust

Daniel, I thought I answered your question. Definetly the flows are louder than stock. but not extremelly loud. If you want a louder exhaust don't use flowmasters.
The engine light doesn't come on and wouldn't be an issue since all you are replacing is the muffler.
I'm going to install an x-pipe and I'm sure it'll make them a little louder. With the X pipe the engine light will come on unless you install a device (I can't remember how is called) that sends a signal to the computer that make it look like you have the cats.

Have you seen the JBA headers? Since you are installing an X pipe anyway, the JBA headers give you 18 HP with the X. They have nice pics on Sean Hyland Motorsports site.

Yes, I saw that but the headers are near the bottom of my list waiting on other companies to offer headers for the '05. At this time I can't see spending 7-8 hundred dollars for headers

Thats true. I remember not too long ago I think it was in 2002 I baught the American Thunder Cat Back system for my 87 5.0 and only paid $225.00 and now all the Axel Back systems for the 05 are starting out at over $300.00. Also Headers could be baught full length for under $200.00 bucks. I even baught a set for $90.00 full length for a Cleveland. I noticed yours was $273.00. Was that the kit or just mufflers welded to your exhaust? I just hate the drone inside of my 87. At 2000 t0 2500 RPMS it kills your ears. I wonder how load the Flows you have will be without the Cats?

i would guess that losing the cats would increase the volume noticably. if you wanna stay street legal, there are some really good aftermarket cats out there, i have even heard of cars dynoing more with hi flo cats than with test pipes. i know that if you want an x pipe and cat cons, you can get some big gains by moving the cats after the crossover...

The Flows are just the axle back mufflers. They are bolt on. Since the mufflers in the '05 are placed under the trunk area you can barely notice the difference unlike the pre '05s that are located right under the passenger cabin. It still remains pleasant to drive with the stereo at normal volume. That was the only drawback with my '93 Cobra and '91 Vert that for long drives the drone got very anoying.
