I use a product called klasse. Zaino is also an excellent product For about $50.00 you can apply this or any other quality product once a year and it should last for at least 5 applications. You will save money and have better protection. No wax or synthetic sealant lasts 5 years. The dealers make a huge profit on paint sealants, rust proofing etc.., besides you will do a far better job.

You need to decide if you want a wax or synthetic sealant. I prefer the synthetic sealant, Klasse I believe is an acrylic based product.

Good luck

Those in the business refer to this as "snakeoil". It's very high profit for the salespeople and dealership. Don't fall for it.

Yes, I admit it. I fell for the "scam", same as the original poster. I also have not had it done.
I talked to the Finance person on the phone whom I filled out the final papers/etc. when I purchsed my Mustang.
I told him I decided that I did not want it, and I would like a refund. I asked him how I could go about getting that.
Paraphrased conversation:
He told me I could not get a refund.
I said, but nothing was done to the vehicle.
He said they already ordered the parts.
I said what parts, this is a service package.
He said, well... the supplies. He then said maybe they could refund the labor minus the cost of the supplies.
I said and how much are the "supplies"?
He said he'd get back to me.

I was so pissed off, I did not answer his next call. And his message just said to call him back (with no dollar value mentioned in message).

The guy was originally just fine, and my car salesperson was fine. I would like to keep a friendly relationship with the dealer, but...

How should I proceed with this?
I do not have yet and thus have not filled out my customer service survey. FYI.

The reason they don't want to give a refund is because these things are usually included in "The Deal" up front and counted as gross profit. Sometimes the salespeople are paid a percentage of it and sometimes it is run through an aftermarket or finance department.

A typical "Pro-Pac" costs the dealer less than $100.00 and they sell the Package for Hundreds more. The only reason there would be value added is if they include some type of extended warranty over and above your original factory one. If not, then it is totally worthless.

Good luck in getting any money back. Especially if it was included in the original purchase contract. There is a slim to none chance you will see a refund.

Previous posts seem to imply, that a refund can be gotten, if nothing has been done.

Boy you guys should really do some research BEFORE buying a new car. With the interweb nowadays there is really no reason you should not know as much or more than the salesman. But I guess hindsight is 20/20, stick to your guns and you will probably get the refund. For future referance never ever let the dealership detailers touch your car, they are hacks and just do a quickie job, I don't even let them do the "complimentory wash" because most dealerships will use a dirty brush to wash your car.

JD....I'm with you. I don't even want the dealership to run my Mustang through their automated car wash. Don't need them to scratch it up.

Funny thing, when my order came in, I told my salesperson not to wash it. He said "we don't want your brand new car leaving the dealership dirty". I told him I didn't mind. When I got to the dealership, the lot boy, after PDI was done, began taking the plastic off the interior. I told him "don't bother". I drove it home and took the plastic off myself and then did a proper detail.

I can't imagine the supplies of "super wax" the dealer sells to be ordered for each and every new car. My guess is that they buy it in bulk.

I'd ask the salesperson to show you the "supplies" they say they ordered for you. Then ask them for the line item costs of those supplies. My guess is they won't or can't. Those dealer "protectant packages" are some of the most over rated/over charged items that you can possible imagine.

I do wish I'd found research on the paint protection etc. out there first, but it was my first new vehicle purchase.
Hell, I had already tried to grapple Ford's Advertising fund, extended warranty plan and all the other crap (which I did research).
I didn't agree to have the paint protection plan done right away, because I wanted to look into it. I just thought I could say no if nothing was done yet.

The plan was pushed by the Finance person during final sale papers, when you just want your car and want to keep it protected.
Everybody (dealers) seems to have a special name for those rip off packages too which adds to all the confusion.

My advice to others would simply be: don't agree to get ANYTHING other than the vehicle and any packages that come directly from the manufacturer.
And I did follow my own advice... up until the Paint Protect package crap.

I just want to get my money back now, you know.
Live and learn.
Thanks for the advice.

just an update

i did get my money back with little to no grief from dealer.
I bought and applied Zaino and would have to say that it is better than what the dealer
could have done and a lot cheaper.
