Default Cutouts before cats

Would it be safe backpressure-wise (I don't care about the torque loss, I mean will my car be okay) to put cutouts (electric or manual, havent decided) directly BEFORE my cats? I'm running shorties and an H-Pipe.

You should be fine as long as you don't run them open 24/7.

There are not bolts before the cats are there? It's welded isn't it?

I'm pretty sure they have to be welded.

Yeah they are welded in. You could flange them if you want to but there is really no point. Go with the electronic one's. Pretty bad a$$. When the cops roll up on you a flip of a switch and back to the hush hush quiet again.

Having no backpressure is going to kill your low end power and torque but might help you out on the high end. Unless you have forced induction then its a whole nother animal.

i was gona do cut-outs but th loss of back pressure would really hurt my pwr with the turbo. but on n/a GT id say you may pick up a few up top but like stated would lose alot of youe 2500-3500 tq. so it would prob just sound meaner!

WAIT, i'm planning to do cutouts after the H-pipe, what is the effect of this if say I have a twin screw? i don't mind if i lose my bottom end but will i gain hp at high end?

You really wont lose anything if you have f/i. Like I said F/I is a different thing. With f/i you generally want to eliminate any backpressure. You should gain power up top though yes.
