so i just got an aftermarket shifter today....
and cant seem how to get it on, the directions are vary vauge. also the boot is conected to the old shifter so does anyone know how i can get the shifter off without breaking something? its the kind of shifter where you set it in place and have to tighten it up by allen screws. any help on this would be apprecatied

The boot has a rubber ring in it and you should just have to pry it off.
