chips in hood from everyday driving
Those of you whose mustang (V6 or GT) is your daily driver like mine is, have any of you gotten any chips in the hood paint from stones being spit up from trucks or other cars? If you can you shed some light on what to do to touch them up? Repainting costs around $500 and a bought a bottle of touch up paint from the dealor. Paint code UA. Please help if you can. Thanks.

You should have added the factory "shields" option.
I have the same problem. My Stang isn't my DD but in 8 months I have over 13,000 miles from long road trips and I have a number of chips that I've been agonizing over. Not much you can do about preventing them.

+1 to that. My GT is black and the hood has atleast 7 or 8 rock chips. Not much you can do man, it's part of driving the car. If you want the proper way to fill the chips with touch up paint, try the detailing section. A lot of those guys can help you out
I got an ink pen from paint scratch dot com. One for color and one for clear coat. Also the rubbing compound. I was staying up on my chips pretty regular but it seems like a full time job this winter. Right now I'm just living with them. I was using an old credit card to level off the paint. I have heard some use that clear bra thing, but it wouldn't have helped on a couple of mine unless it was 24 inches wide. Too far up the hood.
The best you could do is repaint, then have a Clearbra installed. I've had several Clearbras and they work great. www.xpel.com
ive had mine since june and is my dd but no rock chips yet (knock on wood) but i would believe the touch up paint to only do so much and more than likely if you are picky about your cars paint and appearance i have a feeling you are going to break down and repaint soon enough
chips suck! sorry you got some

yes but on a black car, the clear bra is an eye sore unless you get the whole front end wrapped up to the doors, which can get very costly. I'd rather fill the chips in now and then over seeing the line across my hood all the time. It's also cheaper for me that way.
IMO a black car is pretty easy to fill in and touch up. I bought a can of touch up paint from my local auto parts store, and some mild compound. Spray the paint into the CAP of the can, and use the bottom (ripped off) part of a match stick. then dot the chip with paint. Its okay if its a little higher than the regular paint bc u will be compounding it down later (maybe the next day). Then put some wax on it, and you will/should be the only one who knows there is a chip there. looks much better than the chip. the paint on these cars suck *****.

Do you dab clear coat as well, because I have found that it is what levels it off and once compounded, is shiny like the original paint.
I hear you saying the Clear Bra is obvious on some colors. But on the other hand, it does a good job at fending off all but the major stone attacks.
I'm lucky, the clear bra on mine is barely noticeable to the casual eye, unlike stone chips which assail the eye from every angle.
